You should get a hybrid gas/electric Civic...you get tax breaks on those things in California, don't you?

It'd be a nice tax break and would save on gas for sure.

With gas so expensive lately, the hybrid route would probably make the most sense.
From the above choices, though, I'd probably go with a recent year used car. Saves a bundle:) |

How about this car? | ||

How about a Mazda RX-8? I've been in love with that car since I saw the one Cyclops had in X2.

Rates | ||

An interest rate over 8% is highway robbery today. Shit, half that is highway robbery with the prime rate as low as it is these days.
So I'd vote for the cheap new car or the used car route. Getting yourself tied up in a long-term high-interest loan at this point would be pretty short-sighted. DFS. |

my family is very loyal to toyotas. we've had a 92 corolla and a 91 camry hit 200k+ miles and others that have taken a beating. A used one will last you a long time, they are also in the process of producing hyrbid options for all of their current models.. I couldn't tell you what is available yet though, besides the Prius.

Dave you should wait a couple of more months (8.5% percent is basically an ass fucking) or go the two to four year used route and get a car for like low twenties or mid-high teeens. Then your loan payments would be alot less. And you'd still have money to tip the strippers...er bartenders $20.

You can get a damn fine newer used car, and not have to restrict your lifestyle. The more expensive car will be great for the first year. How happy are you going to be shelling out 600 bucks every months in 4 years? Plus, buying a new car the car depreciates so much as soon as you drive off the lot, let someone else take the hit! Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm leaning towards the newer used car route. Probably something certified used.

Brandon and Abe are pushing me to just say fuck it and get the G35... :)

I'd just go with a Civic and call it a day, but that's just me. For you, I'd almost say get a used car and wait for a car you really want at a more reasonable interest rate. Whatever, you do, I'd say fuck those two guys and don't go with the G35, you're screwing yourself.

It's a no-brainer to go with a new car. Just make sure you get a low interest rate.

I've found a place having a sale and selling some 2003 Mazda 6s for 15K. If they test drive okay, I might just have to get one of those because they're really nice cars and that's a cheap ass price for them. It's less than stocked brand new Mazda 3s.
